Dargon Project Writers
Ornoth D.A. Liscomb

Hi, I’m Ornoth! I founded and ran FSFnet (DargonZine’s predecessor and one of the first electronic magazines on the Internet) and the Dargon Project from 1984 through 1988, when Dafydd took over. In 1994 I returned to re-assume editorial responsibilities. For more information about how DargonZine got started, refer to the History of DargonZine page.

One thing the DargonZine writers will tell you is that I’m very opinionated about writing. I urge aspiring writers to approach fantasy fiction from the standpoint of literary merit, and to emphasize vivid imagery and establishing an emotional connection between their characters and their readers. To me, a story is a way for a writer to make the reader feel something. But enough of the soapbox. Now you can see why first rule that new Dargon Project writers are told is: That’s Orny… Don’t encourage him!

After growing up in rural Maine, I’m now living happily in downtown Boston. My passions—an eclectic set—include cycling, cats, my condo, digital photography, web design, foosball, casino blackjack, ska and reggae, Where’s George, and Buddhism.

And, of course, there’s always the never-ending job of writing for and producing DargonZine, which I’ve considered my life’s work since FSFnet was founded, one snowy night way back in December of 1984! I hope you enjoy it!

Favorite Books/Authors Oddly, nothing specific; a little of everything. I guess that might be different if my fiction reading impulse weren't already satisfied by the immense amount of reading I have to do to critique Dargon stories…
Works-in-Progress It’s difficult for me to find the time to write, but I have several projects in the works, including a story for the Codex Araltakonia thread, the resolution of the Luthias/Marcellon storyline, and lots of further adventures of Dale and Simon Salamagundi.
