The Dargon Project Writers' Workshop is intended to help new
writers develop their writing skills, using the peer review method
employed by the Dargon Project. In the past, new writers had been
expected to immediately begin writing for the 'Zine, which required them
to do two things simultaneously: to develop or improve their writing
skills, and to learn about the shared world where the stories in
DargonZine take place.
As the years passed, the history of Dargon grew
as new stories were published and, through those interconnected stories,
Dargon's world become vastly more complicated. We found that our shared
world had actually become a barrier to the success of new project
members. We at the Dargon Project were faced with two choices: eliminate
(or at least radically change) our shared world, or find another way to
remove the barrier. Not wanting to destroy our world, both because it's
what makes DargonZine unique and because we enjoy writing about it, we
chose to do find another way. (more...)
